In the wake of a global pandemic and enduring stresses on the health care environment, nursing professionals need a different leadership capacity — one that challenges the historical industrial underpinnings of nursing leadership. Sean Clarke, FAAN, PhD, RN, Ursula Springer Professor in Nursing Leadership, Executive Vice Dean, Rory Meyers School of Nursing, NYU discusses what leaders need to do to retain nurses in direct care delivery roles, particularly in hospitals.
